We will begin the day by meeting you at the cruise pier. From there, we will make our way to visit the famous Mount Montserrat and on the full day tour we will also drive through the country of Catalonia to see and learn about Cava making. Step by step we will discover the secrets of Catalonia’s national drink – the Cava – and of course you can have a chance to sample the outcome… don’t worry – the driver will only have coffee… :-)

On the way to Montserrat we will enjoy a safe and comfortable ride, as well as great views along the way up the mountain.

When we reach the top, like thousands of pilgrims before, you will be touched and inspired as you explore the magnificent mountain and its spectacular rock formations. Learn about the legend of the Black Virgin and enjoy a performance by the “La Escolanía”, which is the oldest children’s choir in Europe (if available).

We will show you all the interesting points in & around the Park and will reveal the interesting history behind this impressive site. You can choose whether you want to take the funicular railway, do some walking on your own, shop for local cheese & jam, or just take in the amazing views for a little longer.

We will return to the city in the afternoon.

The above tour includes:

Anywhere in Barcelona pick up & drop off
Personal English speaking gentleman for groups of 7 persons or less
Dedicated driver + English speaking guide for groups of 8 persons or more

Cooking Class- From motherchic

Barcelona Cooking.net
THIS IS NOT A TOUR, just a suggestion.
We booked a morning cooking class. Its wonderful, good food, wine and fun. I HIGHLY recommend it.
It also includes a trip to the market.
Five years ago we spent 5 days in Barcelona prior to a cruise. That time we took an evening class. My DH went along just for my sake and he ended up really having a good time.
Anyone interested it is: Barcelonacooking.net for April 22, 2016. Class starts at 10am. Cost 78 euros/person. Even kids came last time and enjoyed it.

Monserrat on your Own- Edward50

Lisah101 has taken this trip and indicated it was easy and inexpensive. I submitted the question to Cruise Critic forums under "Ports of Call" and received very positive replies to going on your own. Here is the link to that question:http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2233147

Most reviews in trip advisor indicate that the best value is the Trans Monserrat ticket (29€) over to Tot ticket (46€).   They both offer Metro , train to and from Barcelona, return rack rail or lift to Montserrat, return Funicular to the mountain top and audio/visual equipment and presentation.  The Tot extras are and lunch and entrance to the museum.  Most feel the lunch is not worth it and you can buy fresh bread and cheese at shops nearby.  The museum is only 6€ so the Trans Montserrat would appear a bargain.

Here is a very useful link by the Barcelona Tourist Bureau that provides detailed info on train travel to Monserrat.  http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/tour/barcelona-montserrat.html

The ship's tour to Monserrat is only $45 US.  It sounds like a bargain but the Celebrity website does not give a lot of detail so it is difficult to see what extras you have to pay for.  This can add a fair amount to the total cost.  It might be worth checking out the detail with the Celebrity desk when on board.
